Massage involves the direct manipulation of persistently or pathologically shortened soft tissues which are unable to work properly. Through direct manipulation the therapist attempts to restore the tissues natural, pain free function. A muscle may be shortened actively or passively. Postural misalignment always involves habitual passive shortening of postural muscles.
Remedial massage is a hands on approach using a variety of techniques – trigger point therapy, deep tissue and cross friction massage, fascial release in order to give relief from tight muscles. This corrects biomechanics, increases blood flow, and hence improves function and reduces pain. It will also assist in the relief of tension, pain, headache, RSI, and postural realignment. Remedial massage may be used as a stand-alone treatment or in combination with other therapies
