Remedial Massage

Remedial massage involves the direct manipulation of persistently or pathologically shortened soft tissues, which are unable to work properly. Through direct manipulation the massage therapist attempts to restore the tissues natural, pain-free function. A muscle may be shortened actively or passively. Postural misalignment always involves habitual passive shortening of postural muscles.

Remedial massage is a hands on approach using a variety of soft tissue techniques (trigger point therapy, active release, deep tissue and cross friction massage, fascial release) in order to give relief from tight muscles, correct biomechanics, increase blood flow and hence promote the healing process. It will also assist in relief of tension, pain and many other ailments. It will assist in the treatment of tendon, ligament and muscle injury, low back pain, head pain and headache, RSI, postural re alignment. Remedial massage is used in isolation or in combination with acupuncture and osteopathy and chiropractic.
